THE BLUE RIDGE MOUNTAINS AND SHENANDOAH NATIONAL PARK
othing is more spectacular than the Shenandoah National Park and the Blue Ridge Mountains. Autumn brings a rainbow of scarlet, gold, and russet as the changing leaves glow in the sunlight. In Winter, there is a crispness in the air that leaves you feeling invigorated and refreshed. Spring is intoxicating, with the dogwoods in full bloom, the brilliant colors of wildflowers scattered on the mountainside,
and the forest bursting with new life. Summer is lazy and long, inspiring leisurely hikes through dense forest only to discover a crystal clear waterfall tumbling down from the mountain top. Enjoy horseback riding, bicycling and hiking, or simply relax and admire the view. Whatever the season and whatever your pleasure, the Shenandoah National Park has everything, and it is only a short drive from the Inn.
Antiquing
irginia's rich colonial history makes it a perfect place to discover that unique, special treasure from an era long past. Enjoy the many antique shops in nearby Leesburg and Middleburg, walk the pedestrian mall in historic downtown Winchester, or browse the charming main street antique shops in downtown Warrenton (pictured). Alternatively, ask your innkeepers about the many antique auctions held nearby.

History
irginia is entwined with the history of the early United States. From Historic Mount Vernon providing a window into George Washington's influence on the direction of the American Revolution to great Civil War Battlefields (pictured is a Civil War re-enactment), Virginia has had a tremendous impact on shaping our nation. But it isn't just this part of history that our area is known for. There are many less well known historic sites in the towns and counties surrounding the Inn, and we will happily provide you with maps and brochures for your historical site seeing excursions.

Equestrian Pursuits
hat would Virginia horse country be without horses? Horse shows, stable tours, fox hunts, and of course horseracing are a way of life in northern Virginia, and Middleburg is the center of it all. With its elegance and old world charm, Middleburg is a must see for any equine fanatic. But Middleburg is but the tip of the iceberg. Throughout the year, there are a multitude of steeplechases, such as those at Morven Park in Leesburg, or the races in Montpelier or the Gold Cup races.
