ick Mallon and Jane Nelson are your hosts at the Inn at Stringfellow Farm.
Mick was born and raised in the highlands of Scotland. He attended Napier College of Technology in Edinburgh, but found his calling in The Royal Marines. He is fond of saying that he liked The Royal Marines so much he stayed for a little while 23 years! Mick was promoted on nine occasions and was awarded a Queen's Commission as a Special Duties Officer. He has traveled widely and as seen active service in Northern Ireland, Cyprus, The Falkland Islands, Bosnia and the Gulf War. After leaving the Corps, Mick accepted a civilian position with British Aerospace as a Project Manager, and was subsequently asked to join BAe PLC as a Business Development Manager. In 1998 Mick left the corporate world to start his own company , managing, coincidentally, the renovation of stone barns and the building of timber frame houses. He has lectured nationally in the UK by request of a national building magazine on the project management of self building. Mick joined Jane in the US in September of 1999.
Jane's life has been a little quieter. Born in Grand Rapids, Michigan, Jane attended a local private college (Calvin College) and earned her degree in Business Management and Psychology. At some point just prior to her graduation from college, Jane stumbled upon a local travel agency seeking afternoon help to file brochures. They say "in the industry" that travel gets in your blood, and it must Jane stayed in the travel trade for 17 years. She too has traveled widely (for pleasure!) to Africa, Indonesia, the Caribbean, Europe, Norway, Hawaii, and of course, the United Kingdom. An accomplished pianist, Jane is classically trained and has been playing since age seven. Her passion is Medieval History and art, and if you look closely you will find that every room has at least one object with this theme.
Mick and Jane are active members of the Loudoun Tourism Council, the Loudoun County Chamber of Commerce, and the Professional Association of Innkeepers International. They love to meet new people, and extend to you a warm welcome to The Inn at Stringfellow Farm.
